Padma Bridge is one of the dream (স্বপ্ন) projects (প্রকল্প) of Bangladeshi people. It is a multipurpose (বহুমুখী) road and rail bridge over the Padma River of bangladesh. The length (দৈর্ঘ্য) of the Padma Bridge is 6.15 kilometres & its width (প্রস্থ) is 18.18 metres and It has 41 spans. Moreover (তাছাড়া), the Padma Bridge have about 264 piles in total where each (প্রতিটি) pile will be 150 meters long and 120meters of the 150 meters from each pile will be underwater (পানির নিচে). It will connect Louhajong, Munshiganj to Shariatpur and Madaripur, linking the south-west of the country to the northern and eastern regions (অঞ্চলগুলি). This bridge is considered (বিবেচনা করা) to be the most challenging construction (নির্মাণ) project in Bangladesh's history. China Railway Major Bridge Engineering Company Limited was given the task to construct (নির্মাণ) the bridge, but everything was under the direct supervision of Bangladesh Army. Construction work started on 7 December 2014. The whole project cost is estimated (আনুমানিক) US$ 3.868 billion (including VAT and IT). The Padma bridge will connect (সংযোগ) the south-west part of the country with the capital and the eastern part. As a result, communication and regional cooperation (সহযোগিতা) will be improved. The Padma Bridge will bring a radical (মৌলবাদী) change in industrial development of Bangladesh. Educational and Medical facilities (সু্যোগ - সুবিধা) will be easier to access. This Bridge is forecast to help increase progressively the number of tourists each year in the southwestern districts, including (সহ) a twofold during the inaugurating (উদ্বোধন) year alone.
